The back of your body protects what is most vulnerable - your front. The back is armoring, defense, control. The buttocks are your lower core, your sexual energy, your power. When you have been attacked, humiliated, or sexually traumatized, your posterior armors itself. Back and buttocks dearmouring is about restoring integrity and core power.

The Psychosomatics Of The Back

The back carries much meaning:

  • Armoring and defense - Your back protects your vulnerable front
  • Control - A straight back is control; a bent back is surrender
  • Support - What supports you and holds you up?
  • What you cannot see - The back is what others see, not you
  • Responsibility - "I can carry it on my back"

"Stabbed in the back" is a phrase for a reason - the back feels vulnerable to what you cannot see.

The Meaning Of The Buttocks

The buttocks are often ignored in Western bodywork. But they are powerfully significant:

Buttocks Psychosomatics:
  • Lower core of your power and reproduction
  • Sexual energy and desire
  • Shame (much sexual trauma lives here)
  • Self-worth and self-respect
  • Contact and grounding (sitting at every moment)

Many people, especially women, are conditioned to make their buttocks "invisible" - retracted, withdrawn, not coming forward. This is sexual suppression in the body.

Tension In Back And Buttocks

Back and buttocks tension arises from:

  • Sexual trauma - Attacks, abuse, unwanted contact from behind
  • Verbal violence - Yelled at "from behind," humiliated
  • Sexual shame - Your buttocks are "wrong," "big," "enticing"
  • Loss of power - Cannot trust what happens behind you
  • Rigid control - Retracted buttocks from "control yourself"
  • Back pain - Psychological tension manifests as physical pain

Self-Massage Techniques For Back And Buttocks

Self-Massage Of Back

  1. Lie on your back, knees bent
  2. Place a massage ball or small ball under your back (between shoulder blades)
  3. Stay here 2-3 minutes, feeling how your back opens upward
  4. Move ball downward along your spine
  5. This physically opens your back while you feel support of ground

Gluteus Release

  1. Sit on a massage ball (or tennis ball) placed under your gluteus (buttock muscle)
  2. Lean your weight into it
  3. Make small movements back and forth
  4. This can feel intense - this is normal
  5. This is effective for buttocks tension

Back Massage With Partner Or Therapist (Safe)

  1. This work is better with support
  2. Lie on your stomach, supported
  3. Let a trusted person gently massage your back
  4. This allows your back to "know" it is safe
  5. Much trauma lives in your inability to allow your back to another

Sacrum Activation

  1. Sit in half-kneeling position (one knee on ground)
  2. Place your hand on your sacrum (base of spine above buttocks)
  3. Circle gently, feeling how energy feels here
  4. This is your energetic ground - activating it helps overall grounding

Movement Exercises For Back Integration

Backbend (Carefully)

  1. Stand upright
  2. Place hands behind you, fingers interlaced
  3. Slowly stretch your back backward - this opens your front
  4. This feels vulnerable - many people cannot do this
  5. Do this carefully and with respect for your boundaries

Hip Circles

  1. Stand upright with hands on hips
  2. Make large circular movement with your hips/buttocks
  3. This activates sexual energy in safe way
  4. This may feel "inappropriate" - but it is healing

When To Seek Professional Support

Seek Help For:
  • Chronic back pain or sciatica
  • Hernia or slipped disc
  • Sexual trauma "from behind"
  • Extreme shame around buttocks or anal area
  • Inability to allow your back to someone

A trauma-informed somatic practitioner is important here. The work must happen in trust.

Restoring Back Trust

This is delicate work. Your back is where you cannot see. Restoration means:

  • Micro-dosing: Small moments of back contact, gradually increasing
  • Constant verbal communication: "Is this okay? Do you want to stop?"
  • Previous expectation: This will take time
  • Your body decides: Trust cannot be forced

Pleasure-Based vs Therapeutic Distinction

Therapeutic Back Work: Focuses on release of tension, restoration of trust, and integration of "behind you." Goal is liberation.

Sexual Buttocks Work: Focuses on sexual stimulation and pleasure. This can be therapeutic, but goal is different.

In this context, we focus on therapeutic work - restoring safety in your posterior.

Consent And Boundaries - ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL

Back and buttocks work are ultimately vulnerable. Boundaries are non-negotiable:

  • You can ALWAYS say "no"
  • You can change your mind mid-session
  • A therapist who overrides your boundary is abuse
  • Verbal communication is essential: "yes," "no," "slower," "stop"
  • Aftercare is mandatory - you deserve support after this work
  • If you feel unsafe, leave - your safety first

Integration After Back Work

After back and buttocks dearmouring:

  • You may feel emotions - grief, anger, liberation
  • Your back can feel as it begins to trust
  • Your sexuality can feel more intense
  • Your core power returns
  • Journal what this means for you
  • Be gentle with yourself - this is deep work

Conclusion: Restoring Integrity

Your back is not less important than your front. In fact, your front cannot be fully open unless your back is supported. This is the paradoxical heart of back dearmouring: by protecting your posterior, you give yourself permission to be fully front-open.

This means restoring trust in what you cannot see. It means knowing you are safe "from behind." This is the path to core power and sexual integrity.
